My name is Nackyana King and I am the owner of NMK ABA Therapy - an ABA private practice servicing individuals with special needs such as ASD and related disabilities. I am also the Founder of Elite RBT training - an RBT training company and Achieving Analyst Supervision curriculum for aspiring future analysts.
Her Story
Nackyana is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst with almost a decade worth of experience in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). Nackyana spent most of her adult years as a behavior technician working with young individuals diagnosed with autism and related disabilities. Nackyana's love for the field of ABA started in her hometown of Brooklyn, NY where she attended Long Island university (LIU) with a bachelors in health Sciences and a minor in Biology. In her final semester of undergraduate school, Nackyana took the course - Adaptive Aquatics for autism where she and her classmates accompanied children with ASD from a nearby preschool to the University’s pool to help get them acquainted with the aquatic environment. The purpose of the course was to assist with the awareness of one of the leading cause of death of children with special needs (drowning). While taking this course, Nackyana learned more about children with autism and for the first time became familiar with the field of ABA and was intrigued to learn more. This led her to her first position as a Behavior Therapist through a job fair at LIU.
Years of Experience
Since 2015, Nackyana has gained ample experience with working with young individuals with special needs as young as 2 years of age to 21 years old. She started with providing services in clients’ homes in New York. Nackyana then relocated with her family to Oahu, Hawaii where she had her first experience working in a clinic setting. This new environment introduced her to many different clients which allowed her to collaborate with peers, receive support from staff and the ability to observe the different interventions that were effectively used. After her tenure in Hawaii ended, Nackyana decided to pursue her Masters’ Degree in 2018 in ABA to become a Behavior Analyst. She worked as a Student Analyst in South Florida for two years then moved to Central Florida. In the fall of 2021, Nackyana passed the exam and became a Board Certified Behavior Analyst.
Why Start NMK ABA Therapy?
Throughout her career, Nackyana had plenty of experiences with numerous ABA practices and met different supervisors and colleagues along the way. Her commitment to her client’s and their families was one that she often put before her personal attainment. She has always believed that the future of the field depends on the practitioner’s nobility, commitment, and compassion to the success of their clients. Starting this company will allow her to take the fragments of experiences of the many companies that she’s worked with in her past to build a brand that will encompass the true values that are needed in this field; nobility, ambition, meaning, aspiration, and commitment.
Nackyana decided to branch out into her own practice and established Noble&MeaningfulKids ABA Therapy. She believes that it is possible to hold a company accountable to sufficiently train their clinicians to ensure quality services. The importance of building rapport with the supervisee is just as imperative as building rapport with the clients and their families, and advocating for socially significant goals for our families should always be top priority.
Nackyana’s daily mission to herself and her family for the past 8 years has been driven by increasing the quality of lives of her clients' families and she hopes that she can continue to do so by modeling her skills to other established and upcoming clinicians to help even more families on a larger scale.
